I just sent an e-mail again to the Trinity Girls. … I don’t know if it will work but I offered free food. To a college student these are the magic words to get them anywhere but students in this city do not follow the college student mold . I don’t know why that is, but we’ll see.

Pray that the girls and I will actually meet and we will get to eat some great pizza!!!!

So , I tried to get in contact with the students that the DC metro team has already been desperately trying to get in contact with. Do I have any luck with them ? Nope. Hum…. I don’t know ….Maybe I need to go to the campus and find some other students that would be interested in starting Cru. on Trinity. We just need those one or two students that have the passion and vision to start launching the movement. I mean these guys are missing out. Cru. is the best!!!! I love it and I hope that they love it to. I knew this was going to be difficult soil going into this so I shouldn’t give up just because I’ve hit the same brick the DC metro team has been hitting for a while. Well see what happens….

Direction

I was given direction last night when I attended a meeting for Volunteers and Staff of the DC metro team. I’ve been thinking and praying about how to minister to college students effectively in my new position as Affiliate staff. I wasn’t prepared to dive head first into campus ministry, that wasn’t the plan (I had for myself). I was going to go work behind the scenes at headquarters, I hadn’t thought myself prepared to be in front of the camera, but God had different plans. So I find myself on the forefront of campus ministry in an area I am unfamiliar with. There are three very significant differences in the ministry I had at school and the ministry I will have here. I went to school in the mid-south; DC metro is in the Mid-Atlantic. My school had one staff team and they were focused only on the students at my school, the DC metro team has to tackle students from over 5 campuses. Also, DC is a city and city campus ministry has always been a difficult one and Cru. hasn’t figured out the best way to reach students that go to school in a city setting. There are just so many differences.

I wasn’t sure how to launch a movement here after all Cru. isn’t about being a “ Christian Club” it’s about launching a movement , making disciples, and fulfilling the great commission. At the meeting we talked a lot about our experiences as students with Cru. As I thought of that I realized what had to be done in my role in the DC metro and more specifically at Trinity. I need to hold to the mission of Cru. which is simply to win, build, and send . Win students to Christ, build them up in their faith, and send them out to do the same thing. The girls at Trinity that are currently in the bible study would need to be built up in their faith. They would need to learn how to live a spirit-filled life and everything that goes along with that including how to share their faith and bring someone to a decision. Then they could be sent out on summer projects, launching bible studies on their campus alone, and maybe even going into full-time ministry. The purpose of all this is to launch a spiritual movement or an awakening in this case. I can’t wait to see the vision become a reality.

DC Metro

I’m really excited to start meeting some of the students in the DC metro area. Apparently there is a huge need for female staffers here and I’m glad to jump in and start ministry . I’ve been presented with the opportunity to head up the women small group at Trinity Washington University. There is already a group of students that meet every thursday , but they are so over committed to other activities that this group usually falls by the way side on their agenda. So, I’m excited about the challenge to get it together and be involved anyway possible to make it a fruitful small group for the students.

I’m really excited to know what I’ll be doing for my year in Orlando. I’m going to be a Jr. Business Analyst working alongside a Sr. Buisness Analyst to solve some critical problems . here’s alittle of my job description

You will gain practical experience in analyzing business processes that will have tremendous impact throughout Campus Crusade. Daily prayer and devotional times will help you maintain God’s perspective in your work.”

At the beginning of this week ( i consider Saturday the beginning of the week . crazy!!) I felt really optimistic. I had an appointment with someone everyday this week but I started to realize some stuff. Every time God does something amazing I start to forget about Him. Then Sunday I got really down thinking about what if things don’t work out and I have to wait longer to get down to Orlando because I know God is working in His own time. God was just telling me that He is in control of all of this and I’m not , even though I always try to be and that’s not good. So He continues to humble me. I’d rather have God in control of this because I mean ,He’s the creator of the universe so He knows way more than I do

I try not to let my feelings influence my actions now. I’m allowing my life to be ruled by fact and faith ( there’s a diagram of a train where fact is in the front -faith is in the middle -and feelings is at the caboose . The train will run with or without a caboose. However, it would be useless to attempt to pull the train by the caboose. In the same way, as Christians we do not depend on feelings or emotions, but we place our faith (trust) in the trustworthiness of God and the promises of His Word.) I’ll see what happens at the end of this week.

As far as my job placement , they said they have found the perfect place for me to use the skills i have to help fix some of the vital problems at headquarters. They just have to meet with a couple more of the heads to see if it will work . so hopefully I will get my assignment this week. !!!

So even though I’m not in Orlando yet , I’ve been talking to some of my team mates via facebook and I’ve got the skinny on some of the stuff going on down there. Two of my teammates are interning with the Information Technology Group of Campus Crusade for Christ and the other two are doing marketing with the Presidents office.

The President of Campus Crusade is Steve Douglass. I met him in February and he is a really cool guy. My teammates that work in the Presidents office got new macs for their work and they were pretty excited about it, I would be too.

I will find out what I am doing this week. So I’m pretty ecstatic about this because alot of people ask me and I have no idea what I will be doing specifically, so after this week I will know!!!

Realization

Throughout this support raising process one thing I have learned that God is big and that I do not need to lean on my own abilities to raise the support I need. I need to rely on God to do this for me because ultimately He will get all the glory from this. I have had a high amount of anxiety during this whole support raising process until I decided to follow the advice of Peter and “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”1 Peter 5:7. It has been such a release for me and I rejoice in this. I can see a huge change in my attitude towards it and others have seen this as well. I think everyone should have the opportunity to go through it because it is a powerful growth agent that brings one closer to Jesus.

The number of e-mails received from the Spanish Web site was manageable for the 220 Spanish-speaking online missionaries before GMO started running an ad campaign to draw seekers.

“We had to decrease the advertising,” says Dan Lee, a staff member with GMO. “The e-mails jumped from a 385 per day average during the first week in May, to almost 3,000.”

GMO receives an estimated 80% to 90% of their e-mails from outside the U.S. Even many of the English e-mails they receive come from countries such as India and the Philippines.
